Martin Shannon
Martin, a native of Ennis, graduated from Limerick School of Art & Design in 2000 & 2003 in Sculpture and Printmaking respectively. He has exhibited in shows in Ennis, Limerick, Wexford, Dublin and as far as China.
“In the beginning I made work which was focused on moments, the importance to me of the passage of time. This work seems to me as very delicate and somewhat ‘sweet’.
What I now realise is that although at times I seem to be engaged in making confrontational “controversial” pieces that I am still making the intimate type of work which I was so captivated with when I set out on this path. I make work about what interests, moves, enthrals, excites, angers and saddens me. I can see the common thread that links each and every artwork”.
